My little cookie monster

Miss M is very much like her mama and daddy...she loves her treats.

For Valentine's Day I made Hero a large heart shaped chocolate cookie and decorated it. Just like the ones you can get a Mrs. Field's. It is sitting on a plate on the counter under a plate. Hero and Miss M have been snaking on it the last couple of days. I have been breaking off pieces of it and allowing Miss M to have it at snack time. This morning Miss M asked for a piece so I broke her off a small piece and told her no more.

Later the Relief Society President from our ward(church congregation) came over to give me my visiting teaching route. She came bearing Snickerdoodle cookies. After she left I set them on the counter. Miss M saw them and asked for one. I didn't see any harm in letting her have just one. So I told she could have one, but the rest would have to wait until after dinner and then she and daddy could have them for dessert. (I have been trying to avoid sweets in preparation for my WLS.)

About thirty minutes later Miss M comes into the family room with a HUGE chunk of that chocolate chip heart! When I asked her where she got it, she just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Ayedunno." (Translation: I don't know)

I thought about taking it away as I had told her no more cookies. But the thought of dealing with a toddler fit was just too much for me today. (She would later throw one anyway over a box we got in the mail, but that is another post.) I am big on picking my battles, and choosing the ones that really matter. Today snatching cookies don't seem to matter in the grand scheme of things.

Of course Emma had to try to get some....fortunately Miss M took that chunk of cookie and threw it in the trash can soon after Emma started to sniff at her. So you see, it ended up not being a battle that needed fighting.

I love my little cookie monster.
