Miss M's Big Girl Bed Saga

About a week ago Miss M took a flying leap out of her bed. Immediately after it happened I didn't notice any war wounds. However, after her nap the bruise across her nose and under her left eye was glaringly obvious. I felt so bad for her.

Hero was out of town when Miss M decided to see if she could fly. I debated whether or not to turn her bed into the toddler day bed by myself or not, "I am woman hear me ROAR." After some extensive internal debate I decided that I really wanted to make the big girl bed a big deal with new bedding and all, so I would wait for Hero. All the while hoping that one flying leap was enough to convince Miss M to not try again.

Once Hero got home the next day we discussed what to do and decided that I would shop the local Targets to find the bedding I wanted for Miss M. She still shows no sincere interest in any particular character, so I was happy to pick something out for her. On-line Target website said that the store closest to me had the set I wanted. No luck there, they couldn't even tell me where they keep toddler bedding. Saturday Miss M, Mama, and Gamma went shopping at the Target near Gamma's house. We had just turned down an aisle to head towards the baby/toddler section when we ran right into what I was looking for. Woo Hoo!

When we got home that afternoon, Miss M and Hero went to work on transforming the crib to the toddler day bed while Mama washed the new bedding.

That first night, I can not tell you how many times we put her back in her bed. Miss M finally fell asleep on the floor behind her door, Hero put her back in her bed and tucked her in again, for the night.

The next day was Sunday. Miss M was absolutely exhausted, we knew she didn't sleep well the night before. She survived nursery. Our ward does Sacrament meeting last. Miss M had a complete melt down right after the Sacrament was passed. Hero took her out of the meeting, but I could tell as they left that Miss M had had it and we needed to go. I waited until the intermediate hymn and then made my exit. We took Miss M home, fed her lunch, and put her down for nap. Hero said he just took off her jumper but left on her onesie and tights. I could hear Miss M protesting the idea of a nap. After about twenty minutes she got real quiet so I went up to check on her. This is what I found.

Miss M had put her shoes back on....and on the right feet even.

In the process of Hero getting pictures for Mama; Miss M awoke to not go back to sleep that afternoon. Shame on us!

The battle of sleeping in bed had begun. I was digging my heels in for a long battle as Miss M is very head strong. She just doesn't know she got that from Mama and Mama is even more obstinate. Today I was shocked when I went to check on her at nap time, she was asleep in her bed! Wow!

Now to just to convince her that she is a big girl in a big girl bed, and big girls don't need binkies to sleep. That is a battle I am not looking forward to.
