Fun times at the cabin

After I dropped Elder Stephenson off at the MTC and took my friend to the airport, I went back home to pick up my family so that we could spend a few days up at my in-law's cabin. We went up on Wednesday, my in-law's joined us on Friday and we all went home Saturday afternoon. I think it is safe to say that any time spent at the cabin is fun time had by all.

Whenever we go to the cabin we do at least one dutch oven meal. Phillip is the dutch oven cook in our family. This time we did our usual dutch oven chicken and potatoes. For dessert I had an inspired idea that I am sure has been done all over the country...it was delicious nonetheless. We did brownies baked in a dutch oven on top of a can of cherries, of course we opened the can and poured the cherries into the dutch oven. It was unanimous that a scoop of vanilla ice cream was the only improvement that could have been made to the desert.

Meghan loves taking people by the hand and going for walks. Here she is on a walk with her Grandma.

In May we bought Meghan these boots at Cabela's. They were on sale, too cute, and perfect for playing up in the dirt and mud at the cabin. Meghan loves these boots....and as you can tell she has a great fashion sense.

Feeling the burn

Yesterday was my first aqua aerobics class in over 4 years. I had forgotten what a good work out it can be...but today I am reminded by the burn in my thighs and abdomen. Not sure why I ever got away from aqua aerobics, but sure am glad I found my way back.

Added bonus, the aquatic center I take my class at has a child and parent play time from 10am to noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's. Miss M and I enjoyed time together in the water after my class. She had a blast and was more than ready for lunch and a nap when we got home.

Ready, set, get wet....

Joined the local aquatic center today. They offer all kinds of pool classes, regular aerobic classes, have a gym and weight room for DIYers (which I am not). Here's the added bonus...they have reliable daycare! When they are open they are there! So here's the plan; Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays I am going to take the deep water aerobics class. Then one of those days a week Miss M and I will stay afterward for the Child & Parent play time in the pool. The girl LOVES the water, so how can that not be fun for her? When she turns two we can sign her up for her first swim lesson, until she turns three any lessons she takes will be with a parent. But in my book you can never be too young to learn to swim and water safety. I am so STOKED to have such an awesome aquatic center close by!

Great Saturday!

Today was such a great day...only wish I could get to sleep.

We slept in super late, it was after 11am when I finally got my lazy body out of bed. After showers we went into town to run errands. Ate lunch at one of my favorite mom & pop type restaurants in town. Went shopping, found sheer curtains to go into the nursery that don't match perfectly to the crib set we bought, but are close enough. Came home put my feet up for about an hour and then we went to a St. Patrick's Day party at Hero's commander's house.

The sun was shining, the temperature got above freezing...it was a very good day here in Alaska!
